Overview

If you like history, Ephesus tour will expand your horizon. Ephesus is world famous ancient city, that everyone should know about. Ephesus consists of “House of Virgin Mary”, “The Great Antique Amphitheater of Ephesus”, “Temple of Artemis – One of the seven wonders of the world”, “The Library of Celsius”, “The Ancient Brothel” and many more. This is a whole day tour taken by bus. Pick-up starts at 6:30 in the morning!

About 1,5 million visit Ephesus each year. It’s historical, archaeological and religious values makes Ephesus one of the most unique ancient sites in the world. Most of these visitors are Christians. The importance of Ephesus for Christians is related to “Virgin Mary”. Virgin Mary and St. John were in Ephesus to spread Christianity. Virgin Mary also spent her last days here in Ephesus and passed away here. Virgin Mary’s house is about 9 miles outside “City of Ephesus”.

Here are some highlights of “Marmaris to Ephesus” excursion:

  • Most people who visit Ephesus are Christians. The reason Ephesus is valuable for Christians is: St, John and Virgin Mary came here to spread Christianity. St. Paul was here too writing letters to the Corinthians. St. Paul stayed here three years. Virgin Mary spent her last days here before passed away. The shrine of Virgin Mary is about 9 km outside Ephesus and had been announced a pilgrimage site by the Vatican
  • The most photographed and impressive ancient building in Ephesus is “the Celcus Library”. Make sure you take a picture of it too.
  • “The Ancient Theater” is so magnificent that it has witnesses many performances of all kind.
  • Other venues to not miss are “Agora, “the Street of Harbour”, “The Temple of Hadrian”, “House of Love”,  fountains,  mosaic laid roads and many other little pieces of ancient history.

Tour Program :

  1. You will be Picked-Up and the Day Starts : You will be picked-up around 6:30 a.m – 7:30 a.m from the front entrance of your hotel. Sometime there might be slight delays at pick-up times due to the number of hotels the bus has to stop by to pick up other guests. The Bus Ride from Marmaris to Ephesus is about 3,5 hours.
  2. Breakfast time: After departure, at around 8:30 – 9:00 a.m it is breakfast time, near Mugla, about 45 minutes outside Marmaris, on the way to Ephesus. The breakfast will served, with hot drinks included in the price of the tour.
  3. Ride to Ephesus and the Tour: After breakfast, you will have a nice ride to Ephesus for another 3 hours or so. The Bus Ride from Marmaris to Ephesus is about 3,5 hours. Bring a book to read, or just enjoy the scenery of Turkish towns and the roads. Once arrived to Ephesus, first you will visit the “Ancient City of Ephesus” for the most part of the excursion. Enjoy, explore, learn, take pictures etc. Next you will visit “The House of Virgin Mary” which is about 9 km. from “The City of Ephesus”.
  4. Lunch will be served sometime after the finishing the city tour.
  5. Returning back to Marmaris: At about 16:30, you will set-off back to Marmaris. Approximate arrival time to Marmaris is about 20:00 p.m. You will be dropped back off to your hotel.
