Ephesus is also an important place for Christianity. Virgin Mary was here with St. John to spread Christianity and she spent her last days here. Her shrine is situated about 9 km away from Ephesus. Vatican declared the Shrine as a pilgrimage.
Ephesus dates Back to BC. 6000, Neolithic period. But its most active times were 2000 years ago.
The second day, we will go to Pamukkale, "the castle of cotton" , which is one of the oldest thermal cities of the world.
The rich thermal springs, which pour down the hillside, over thousands of years, have formed these bizarre cascades of travertine and mineral pools.
With its peculiar lime terraces and mineral baths, Pamukkale is a perfect work of mother-nature and unique in the world today. The sights of ancient Hierapolis are in walking distance and equally impressive.
